Shelter in Metal Container
Vision
My vision is to build cost-privy and accessible homeless night shelters for homeless children.
On several occasions, passing by the city streets with Dad, I would encounter children sleeping on the footpath pavements. This, partnered with several news articles about pavement kidnappings and deaths, struck me as an urgent call for help.

Partnered with SRS (System Research Society) to establish one shelter in Nemragomula, Bibnagar Mandal, Hyderabad. This is the first step in providing accessible and equitable housing to people, and I hope to continue establishing more shelters
Solution
Driven to construct a plausible solution to this, I decided to re-ignite my passion for building!

Discussing my intention with Dad and his architect friends, I came across the idea of discarded shipping containers.
By utilizing shipping metal containers to build shelters, I aim to provide a safe place for children to sleep. Apart from having low construction costs, it might be a sustainable method.
Design
I have designed a two and three-tier system inspired by the Indian railways. To prevent the overheating of the container I have added glass wool insulation, which makes it liveable.
To take this idea forward, I see a possibility of stacking these containers one on top of the other, thereby optimally utilizing existing space.
Every human being deserves to have a dignified roof over their head. Building these shelters might change the picture of homelessness in Delhi.
